Unearthed San Francisco is a 54-hour open innovation Hackathon where participants will gather to solve current mining and resource sector challenges. Aided by large datasets and experienced mentors, participants are tasked to build prototype solutions to challenges using their skills and creativity. Participants at Unearthed will work in teams to build their solutions with all teams pitching their ideas at the end of the event to a panel of distinguished judges from the companies involved.
Challenge providers include BHP Billiton and Caterpillar, with the winning team on Caterpillar's challenge provided the opportunity to showcase their solution via video link on stage at MINExpo to hundreds of thousands of spectators.
Software developers and designers, engineers, data scientists, mathematicians and entrepreneurs are invited to take part in this exciting hackathon at Galvanize in San Francisco from September 23rd-25th.

Eligibility
All ages, gender, backgrounds, skill-sets and demographics are welcome at Unearthed. If you are however under the age of 21 (US liquor restrictions) then please let the organisers know at the event. We will not serve alcohol to anyone under the age of 21.
Unearthed is a competitive hackathon event and most participants tend to enter so as to win! So it is advised beforehand that if you are a beginner programmer or coder then be warned that some participants are are advanced than others!
Requirements
You will be required to select a challenge and data set from the one's provided. You will then be tasked in your team to produce a novel, innovative solution to this challenge using your skills, resources and the abilities amongst your team. Solutions depend on what challenge you and your team select.

Two ticket types are available for Unearthed San Francisco: Innovators and Observers.
Innovators are participants in the hackathon. Tickets start at US$25.
Observers are those not actively participating in the hackathon and are there to watch the action unfold, meet and network with industry guests and be a part of an exciting event. Tickets start at US$100
